We’re looking for a Development Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in driving profitable growth, strengthening strategic partnerships and contributing to the continued success of our underwriting proposition.​

What you'll do

​​

As a Development Underwriter, you will be responsible for developing and managing our book of business and in particular our schemes business. You will working closely with our sales team and insurers to deliver sustainable growth and underwriting profitability.

​

You’ll be responsible for:

​

- Building and developing strong relationships, identifying new business opportunities and driving profitable growth for our panel.

- Underwriting new and existing business in line with appetite, authority levels and company strategy.

- Working effectively with our sales team to secure quality business.

- Monitoring portfolio performance, identifying trends, and taking proactive action to ensure profitability and good customer outcomes.

- Collaborating with internal teams including claims, pricing, and operations to deliver a seamless service and enhance our underwriting proposition.

- Contributing to underwriting strategy by providing market insight and feedback to support product and appetite development.

What you need to succeed

 ​

- A minimum of 2 years motor insurance experience, ideally within underwriting, with a focus on scheme development.

- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance growth and profitability.

- Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.

- A proactive, analytical mindset with strong decision-making capability.

- A clear understanding of regulatory requirements and a commitment to delivering good customer outcomes.

- The ability to work collaboratively across teams to achieve shared business objectives.
